Mamma Mia The Musical

Mamma Mia The Musical

I always try to go all out for my birthday. Since I was unwell and in hospital for my birthday, and then spent another 2 birthdays in lockdown restrictions due to the pandemic, I like to really celebrate with family and friends, and make the most of turning another year older! I tend to try and organise events or trips where possible, and turning 29 was no different.

This year, Mamma Mia the Musical was opening at Blackpool Opera House (Winter Gardens) actually on my birthday, and given I missed the last time it toured, there was no way I was not going to go!

I reached out to my lovely family and friends to see if anyone wanted to join, and there ended up being 10 of us! We managed to get our tickets super early and almost took up a whole row!

Before the show, we grabbed dinner at Bella Italia, and then headed over to the theatre. Inside there was a gorgeous photo display which was so fun! I really love going to Blackpool for shows as they often go all out. They had a great cardboard cut-out prop when I went to see Kinky Boots years ago too!

It seems like this blue dress was my outfit of the month, as I wore it in Rome too! My gorgeous lemon bag was a birthday gift from my best friend Joanne, and is from Joe Browns. It totally is my whole personality at the minute!

The show was absolutely AMAZING! It was only on at Blackpool for 6 days, but honestly if I could have gone back I'd have seen it again. The story broadly follows the film (or I guess the film follows the musical technically!) and the use of songs is amazing, including some that aren't featured in the first film. The cast really embody the characters and it was also so funny in places. The singing was honestly fantastic and it is by far up there with one of the best shows I have ever seen. A solid 5* from me! We had the soundtrack on in the car all the way home!

At the time of writing, the show is at Birmingham Hippodrome, and is then continuing on through the UK and to a couple of countries in Europe. I have just seen it is coming to Liverpool in December, so maybe I will go again. I would honestly say do not miss this if it is coming to a city near you!

Love, Beth x
