For some people 5k might seem like a walk in the park, but I have never been sporty or active. 3 months ago I decided to sign up to do the Preston 5k Race for Life, and managed to convince one of my best friends to come with me.

Neither of us are runners and honestly I did no training for this. I got a treadmill for my house in January and had every intention, but time ran away with me and all of a sudden it was a week away! Today, we completed it in about 48 minutes (roughly from our start time - I didn't have my watch or phone, oops!) and am SO proud of us, though I definitely could have done better if I had invested in a better sports bra!

I have lost relatives myself to cancer and know people who have too, as well as knowing people who are currently fighting their brave battle. I wanted to do this to raise awareness and money, and was thinking of them all every step of the way. It was also to prove to myself that if I want to do something, I can.

As Elle Woods says..."exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy" and this is so true! We were absolutely buzzing after, and we had the best cheerleaders in Toni's son and partner, as well as my darling girl.

At the time of writing this, I have raised £140 + £31.25 gift aid, which has smashed my £50 goal out of the park. Today, I ran a 5k for Cancer Research....go me!
